Model A Games at meeting this Saturday!

Our October meeting is this coming Saturday the 6th of October!
It's going to be held at Bill & Rosemary Lumsdens property in Clermont. The club and Rosemary are providing a BBQ lunch for everyone! This day will be set up for fun! The guys are working on quirky model A games, we will also have an area designated for you guys to clear out your extra parts and set up a SWAP meet, so bring your stuff, a blanket or a table and be ready to wheel and deal!
Oh and Dont forget to bring your chairs to sit on cause space they have... chairs they do NOT!
Show up about 10:ish, we'll get the games rolling about 10:30 and lunch will be around 1:00. See Ya There!

Directions: in Clermont from the intersection of 27 and 50. Go South on 27 to 2nd light at Johns Lake Road. Take a left onto Johns Lake Road (at Walmart) and travel thru the intersection of Hancock Road. Go exactly 1/2 mile further to CW Harrell Road which will be on your right. There you will see the barn on your right.

Beckett Bash was another success!

We had about 107 people present and 37 model A's. Food was great and it was great to see friends from other clubs there to join us!
Thank you to all who made it. Thank you to to Don and Sultana's sister for doing such a great job with her silhouettes! Thank you to all the helpers that helped set up and break down.
And we look forward to doing it again next year.

5th Annual Don Beckett & Friends Birthday Bash

It's almost here! Can't you feel the excitement?!
Come one Come all to the celebration this Saturday morning about 10:30 at Hickory Point Park.
Bring yourself, bring your family, bring your A (if you can, if not come anyways) and have fun!
Remember, you don't have to bring any food Don Beckett is supplying all the food. If you wish to bring anything you may bring extra drinks or desserts. Also, Sandi is still looking for a couple larger coolers with ice... so if you want to bring that instead, call or EMAIL.
Now we do not REQUIRE an RSVP however, for my food purchasing purposes, if you think you are going to be here this Saturday, could you just send me a quick email unless you have called me in the past week. That would be awesome!! Thanks: EMAIL
Hickory Point park is on the north side of the HWY 19 Bridge between Howey and Tavares. You do not have to pay to come in the gate. And just as an added little note, we are on the bottom floor again and there IS another party at the same time on the top floor. So parking is going to be an issue. We are NOT allowed this year to park in the middle of the drive like we did last year, nor on the grass (they called me today:/). We have to use parking spaces. There is an axillary parking area so there will be plenty of room, but if you want a close up space, come early!

Oliver Makes Food Drive Run

Oliver, the McCormack's temperamental AA stake bed stepped up to the plate Sunday to help out with a 'Fill the Truck' Food drive a Morrison Methodist Church in Leesburg. We were contacted by John Harrington, the pastor who conducted services for our John O'Shea and remembered how neat all the Model A's were. He asked if we could have a truck that his church could fill up. After showing him some pictures, he thought that Oliver would be a sufficient challenge.

Well fill up the truck they did, and off we went to the Leesburg Food Bank, and after all was tallied, we had 3,123 pounds of food, 123 pounds over Oliver's design weight limit. The old boy groaned and rattled and almost didn't have enough power to get up the street, but he made it. Oliver originally hauled grain out South Dakota during the Great Depression to feed those who hungered, and over 75 years later, answered the call once again.

Model A Making Great Progress!

We just received word from Bill McClelland that his tudor has a nice shiny coat of paint and is getting closer by the minute to an unveiling party! Bill's Brother has done the body work and painting and it looks fabulous... we can't wait to see the finished version. If you'll recall, this was the tudor 'in anticipation' that was at our May meeting in Umatilla.

Homosassa Tour

Thanks to all who venture out for the car show in Homosassa Springs today. We had a total of 6 families at the show, Speedy Dave Baker even had the honor of passing a solitary Model T ambling out in the countryside. Despite a frog choker of a rain and some heat, it was a nice show with many T's and A's present.

Mt Dora Cruise In Invitation

I received this email from the organizer of Mt Dora 3rd Thursday nights:

Come on over to the Mount Dora Cool HOEDOWN Car Show next Thursday, Sept. 20, from 5-9 in downtown Mount Dora. Put on those tight fitting jeans, western shirt, and cowboy hat (or cowgirl hat) and look for tons of fun. There will be at least two bands performing, the Blackwater Creek Bluegrass Band at 3rd Ave and Donnelly St. and the 2A.M. Band playing contemporary rock at 4th Ave and Baker St., both in the general area of the car show. A list of restaurants with their specials and the prices will be in your goodie bag for those wanting to have dinner at the show. Talk about door prizes. As with the June show, these aren't your typical car show prizes of cleaning cloths, polish, etc. No way. These are from your downtown Mount Dora merchants and are they neat. How about a 14 karat gold slide (like a pendant) for a necklace, a $100 value. Like to eat out, there are 2 brunch certificates to the Lakeside Inn. For the golfer in you, a 15" golf player statue. There are several bottles of wine, 2 gift baskets with a $75 value in each, and 2 books for Florida adventures travel just to name a few others. Many of the downtown merchants will be open for business for those who like to look through the varied and unique stores they have. It's a HOEDOWN CAR SHOW so make plans now to attend and you won't be disappointed. I will give directions to the downtown area next week but for those of you familiar with the area, it's a block each way from 4th Ave. and Donnelly St, right in the heart of downtown. Can't make it by 5? Don't worry. There will be plenty of parking and you are welcome whenever you can make it. If you are thinking of coming, I would appreciate your letting me know so I can plan accordingly. Ya' all come over now, ya hear. Lowell
