Subject: Daytona Beach Dream Cruise “Fun & Free Collector Car Event“ Oct. 23-24-25, 2009
Hello! Please make your fellow club members aware of a terrific, big, free event that's enjoyable for all auto enthusiasts. In its first year, 2008, the Daytona Beach Dream Cruise had nearly 1,200 special cars and trucks participating. Based on great buzz from last year, there'll be even more participants this year. More fun activities are planned for 2009 and procedures are being streamlined to enhance everyone's experience.
The 2nd Annual Daytona Beach Dream Cruise is coming Fri., Sat. & Sun., Oct. 23, 24 & 25, 2009. It is being held at multiple venues throughout the Daytona Beach area. Times and places of official event activities are shown on the Schedule of Events page of www.DaytonaBeachDreamCruise.com . These activities are free for drivers and occupants of participating collector cars (all years are eligible) and for the general public. There are no vehicle registration fees and no admission fees at official event activities. We recommend taking in as many activities as your time allows. It's fine if you can only attend one or two days. You get to choose which activities to enjoy day or night, and you can be a participant or spectator.
Friday Oct. 23rd - Noon Kickoff Plus Late Afternoon & Evening Gathering Featuring Musical Entertainment and a Terrific Movie of Historic Auto Racing on the Area's Beach, at the Beachfront Bandshell. This is all free and participating special cars will be allowed to park immediately adjacent to the Bandshell on the Boardwalk and in Oceanfront Park. See web site for details.
Saturday Oct. 24th Check-in of Participating Vehicles at the Volusia Mall (1700 W. International Speedway Blvd). Show up at the northeast corner of the parking lot behind Sears between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. There is no need to register in advance. However, by registering for free online before the Daytona Beach Dream Cruise, owners will receive helpful email updates leading up to the event.
Saturday Oct. 24th - Free Photo of Each Special Car at Check-in. As part of this email you'll see the flyer for the 2nd Annual Daytona Beach Dream Cruise. Scroll down and notice the three photos. Again this year, we'll give a free digitally-enhanced photo, similar to these 2008 samples, of each collector car that comes to check-in between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the northeast corner of the Volusia Mall parking lot. In addition, we'll make available free of charge the high resolution image of each of these digitally enhanced photos for everyone to use as they wish. You'll love this nice free keepsake.
Saturday Oct. 24th - Two Judged Car Shows and Several More Non-Judged Shows. Check web site for where and when these special gatherings will take place. There will be no entry fees or admission fees.
Saturday Oct. 24th - Fun Cruising along Atlantic Avenue (A1A). An ideal three mile cruising route is recommended with the northern turnaround at Plaza Blvd. and the southern turnaround at Main Street. Suggested afternoon and evening times for cruising will be shown on the web site.
Saturday Oct. 24th - Really Impressive Free Outdoor Car Theme Movie at The Aquarium Restaurant & Nightclub adjacent to the scenic Halifax Harbor Marina. Bring your blanket or lawn chair for this unforgettable experience. See details soon on www.DaytonaBeachDreamCruise.com about the film & time.
Sunday Oct. 25th - Final Gathering of Special Vehicles & Bon Voyage Dream Cruise Send-off. This also takes place at The Aquarium - you'll love the special lighting at this venue when it's dark Saturday night and you'll appreciate the beauty of this waterfront park setting in the daylight Sunday, midday, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Bring a special car Sunday to be eligible to win terrific prizes including lots of cash. A great Bahamas cruise will also be given away.

Apopka Car Show
Good afternoon,
Gosh, it seems like a lifetime ago that I sent you an email about a car show in the Apopka area. This is a special event though and not a car show per se. It is being coordinated by Lou Coppola, an active participant in Central Florida car shows with his Model A and 66 Ford convertible, among others. Lou is looking for about 10 classic cars for a grand opening of the Emeritus Assisted Living Center on Wekiva Springs Rd. Over 20 of you attended an event at the same facility in March 2009 for the benefit of the residents, only then it was called Summerville. The date of the open house is Sept. 16, a Wed., from 2 - 6. If you are available, and have an interest in participating in this event, please send Lou an email at acoppola1@cfl.rr.com or give him a call at 407-880-0220. The address of Emeritus is 203 S. Wekiva Springs Rd, Apopka 32703 and is only about two blocks off of 436 on Wekiva Springs Rd.
I'm sure most of you are like me and ready for the cooler and drier weather that usually comes with fall. I hope you have all had a good summer, are still in good health, and enjoying your time with that classic of yours. It's good to say hello to you and I look forward to seeing you sometime in the near future. Until then, take care. Lowell

Barberville Pioneer Festival
This coming Saturday - April 25th - is the Barberville Pioneer Festival.
If you have never been to this very nice pioneer village, they will have live music all over the park, mostly Blue Grass style.
There are craftsmen - blacksmiths, quilting, weaving, etc., -- railroad display, fire house with an old fire engine, a school house where they have different kinds of old country dancing, etc. The Crankin' A's put on a car show. It is a great time to get together and cruise on over. Sorry for the late notice. I just found out about this in an email exchange with Elaine Lowe. She is mailing me their last newsletter with info. If anyone is interested, Buddy and I would happy to put something together for us to cruise over. Just send a reply to bbpearce919@embarqmail.com

Model A Tour to Silver Springs
March 27, 28, 29
The following is the plan for the Central Florida Model A Tour to Silver Springs
We are certain that there is no way that we will be able to collect the entrance money from each one of you separately, therefore we are requiring one person from each club to collect cash money from each one in your club and give Van Maddox or Jeff Stewart Cash Money to purchase the tickets.
The price is $34.00 per car for two persons for each car attending and $17.00 for each car attending with only one person in a Model A and the price includes Tax.. Our contract with Silver Springs states that we need to provide cash for the tickets (no checks or credit cards) no later than 4:00pm on Friday afternoon, March 27. Please get the cash to us a little before 3:00pm. to allow us time to go over to purchase the tickets.
On Saturday March 28 we will enter the park at 9:00am. We will park the cars in next to the stage and then we can set up our chairs right in front of the stage. After setting up you can leave the park for food and necessities and at 10:00am you will be able to tour the park. You need to bring your own chairs.
Entertainment usually starts at about 12:00 noon and the featured act starts at 2:00 to 3:00pm. The featured entertainer for this show will be Glen Cambell. We will leave the park at 5:00pm and return to the Motel. As you know from the Villages Tour, this is a party group with a party on Friday and Saturday nights at the Motel. Everyone brings finger food or a dish to share. Please bring the drink of your choice. There is a nice little restaurant just across the street from the Motel if you want to walk to a place for dinner.
The party breaks up on Sunday morning and each club starts their tour back home. We look forward to seeing all of you nice people since we enjoyed the last gathering so much. If you have questions, feel free to call or E mail us.

Car Show Opportunities - not official club activities
Good morning,
Happy New Year and welcome to 2009. There are a couple of great car shows coming up in the Apopka area in Feb. and March I wish to call to your attention. "at the Hop" is a benefit for the Cancer Resource Center at Apopka High School and will include a classic car show, limited to 1972 or older, a bike show, dancing and entertainment and hot dogs and hamburgers included in the price of admission. There will be 3 People's Choice Awards. The event will run from 3 pm to whenever, with food served from 3-6 pm, and the date is Sunday, Feb. 15. The show is sponsored by Zellwood Pub & Cafe and SRS Catering and will be held at Windy Hill Ranch at 3620 Kelly Park Rd., Apopka, FL. The owners of the Zellwood Pub and owners of Windy Hill Ranch are both dear friends of ours, and the cause is certainly a worthy one, and we hope you will come out and support the event. Advance tickets are $10/person and at the door $15/person. For more information, tickets, or entry registration, please email SRSCatering@aol.com or phone 407-509-4744.
The second show is the 9th Annual APOPKA FAIR CAR SHOW and will be held March 14 & 15 at Kit Land Nelson Park in Apopka, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Primary sponsor of this event is the Rotary Club of Apopka. Registration begins both days at 8:30, and, as always, is FREE. It is an Antique, Classic, Special Interest show with dash plaques, great door prizes, and 5 People's Choice Awards each day with participant and spectator voting. Some of the door prizes include 8 tire clocks with really neat wheels and a wrench and screw driver as hands. In addition to the car show, there is a giant midway, live entertainment, crafters, and a number of food vendors. Something new this year is a Club Participation Award on SUNDAY ONLY, with a minimum of 5 cars attending. Of course, the tree filled park is one of the most beautiful venues for a car show in the area. We welcome you to attend one day, or both, as your schedule permits. I will continue to keep you updated as we get closer to each of these events and look forward to seeing you at one or both of them. As always, if you have any questions, or would like to make a comment, please contact me at my email address, luvr56@aol.com, or call me at 407-886-5844. Thanks for your past support of the Rotary sponsored APOPKA FAIR. Take care. Lowell

Car Show Invitation
Our newest member Ron Schell has sent this message to our club:
The 'resort' we stay in had a car show last year, their first, and it went over pretty well. They are planning it again this year and we were wondering if some of the A club members might like to attend. I am sure I could arrange group parking and the folks here sure do like the older cars.
